The Micah McCoy Studio story started over ten years ago, when a high school junior asked a high school sophomore to prom. Two proms, one marriage, two kids, and two awesome businesses later, Micah McCoy Studio is the collaboration of two things both Micah and Caitlin love: photos and stories.
Micah McCoy began photography during his college years, and developed an appreciation for the great photojournalists and classic street photographers— whether he’s doing commercial work, covering weddings, shooting portraits, or completing personal projects, this documentary style influences the story his photos tell.
Caitlin McCoy has been writing stories for anyone that would read them since middle school, and after a Journalism degree and agency work, she tells the stories that need to be told. Whether it’s website copy, print ads, or compelling articles and exhibits, she tries to bring stories to life in ways that connect with people.
Photos and words are just the beginning of our story — and our story is based on the stories of so many others. Let’s tell yours.
Micah McCoy is a photographer. Shooting with rangefinders, Micah has developed a style rooted in the tradition of the early photojournalists. With a focus on documentary, Micah uses shallow depth of field to highlight his subjects and place those who view his work within a space. Depth is paramount.
Micah lives with his family in the midwest on his wife’s family farm. Micah believes steadfastly in the family as one of the most meaningful photographic subjects. With great photographers such as Wayne Miller as inspiration, Micah has sought to document family life from a position of principal perspective; that of a father.
With a background in journalism, Caitlin McCoy has a knack for capturing real moments authentically. Caitlin has a unique ability to see past the camera and view a scene in front of her from the outside.
Emmaline is a photographer with a natural talent for capturing authentic portraits. She is currently studying art at the University of Illinois and brings an artists touch to the photos she makes.
